Beware of using small electronic "aligator" clips for jump starting your battery. The wire is too small to handle the current and heats very rapidly. The plastic insulation may catch on fire after just a few seconds of cranking. Buy a larger spring clip and some #10 braided wire, usually available at auto parts stores, and make your own little jumper cables. They will handle the current your starter draws.
